Dad decided to come to Manchester to look up family friends. It was here he met up with a girl who he grew up with back in Belfast, Marion Murphy. They started dating & eventually got married on the 6th June 1981. They settled in Rochdale & started a family. Some people said it wouldnt last, jobs were hard to come by & times were hard but they managed with the help of mums parents, Patrick & Isobel Murphy. Dad worked here and there to make a few quid as you do, and as the years passed, the family grew...Geraldine, Patricia, Gemma, Patrick, Roisin & Joseph jnr. The kids quickly grew up, & it even though it was hard raising them on a council estate where crime was 'higher' than most of the druggies that lived there...they were happy & healthy. A lot of people remarked on how well behaved the children were, & mum & dad were proud of the 6 polite, well mannered children they raised together.
